I INSTALLED A NEW BMW AIRHEAD CLUTCH
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.5 месяцев назад
After undergoing a complete engine rebuild, this 51-year-old BMW airhead truly deserves a fresh clutch assembly. Upon inspecting the worn components, it's evident that a replacement was necessary, as the old clutch was 2mm below the factory specifications. The deficiency could lead to clutch slippage and excessive heat in the clutch area, issues I'd prefer to avoid in the near future. To addres...

Great video, with very clear steps. I just wanted to confirm a few things though.. when you mentioned the mating point of the bearing where the male and female meet, and the top dead center of the bearing housing, did you mean that the mating point goes at tdc of the housing or that it should go at the 26 degree point. That wasn't too clear to me. Thanks
Thank you for your comment! To be clear: The mating point of the bearing is placed 26° before TDC. I hope this helps with your own repairs😃👍🏼 Regards Andreas
Very helpful video.
How can I get that Hand operated diesel injector
Parts availability and any clever work around also any repowering. We got rid of our Bolens after about 40 years parts like the hydrostatics. Because of parts,Can these be used again for general purpose instead of show? Oh mufflers replacement at an economy price
Best and most powerful twin cylinder a “Double Lunger” John Deere ever produced for its time! And came with a 72” mower Deck!
Does it apply on stainless steel?or just steel?
I just got me a 300 with a tiller on it and I’m trying to find a video or something that explains how to attach it so I know how to reverse that lol
Hi
You did the right thing by going through the tractor from front to rear and repairing it. It’s beautiful now and I know your proud of it. I would be proud to have it . I really like your videos .
Excellent breakdown info on how this connector is made and functions 😊. Where can the ball bearings be found?😮
Love the videos of the R70! I have an R70 and am trying to get a bagger system for it. Do you have any suggestions?
74-77. Y fav era
Just purchased a 1982 400 yesterday! Do you have a suggestion on where to get parts besides eBay? I won’t go as far as you but I want to fix several things.
Should I put silicone on the bearing plate bolt threads?
IT wouldn't hurt to put some on the bolts, just to ensure it will not leak in the future. Cheers
@@WorkshopRebuild thank you! Did you do that? I’m just afraid the silicone will ball up at the tip of the Bolt when I thread it in and cause it to snap. I already had one snap off and don’t want it to happen again.
@@diesel_dude08 I did not, but I wouldn't hurt to add some. If you apply it to the threads of your bolts, it shouldn't push downwards. You do not want to overtighten these bolts as they are quite small! I hope you were able to get the damaged part out without too much hassle.
Good work
Thanks a lot!
No idea what you do for a living but you sir are professional. I have always shied away from hydraulics. I had the repair manual that followed you almost to a T. Bravo and thank you! I repaired my F911 Steering valve. The only thing I did differently was made my mark on the outside in a diagonal. Just a double check for me to make sure I had the right plate in the correct position and not flipped. Also, I made a jig out of plate steel that I bolted it down to while I made the repair.
Hallo, I have a question. I am repairing a Yanmar 3D72-2b engine. I would like to know what the valve clearance is for this engine, please, and the sequence.
When we bought my wife's departed grandfathers house we got his 332 that has been mowing the same 1.5 acres for about 35 years. It's insane how well made that Yanmar engine is.
Super explanations. Great video
Beautiful work, very interesting, congratulations on the cleanliness and precision of the work, you look like a surgeon in the operating room. But please ask me: why at min 18:09 do you put a metal tab in the hole of the pin to put the retaining clips on... for what purpose? Thank you😏
Thank you for your kind words, it's much appreciated! The reason why a brass shim is being used, is due to the circlip end. With this shim in place, no scuffs or damage can be made to the piston. The ends of the circlips usually have a "sharp" edge as they are sheered from factory. One could opt for snap rings, but this is what I do when I install retaining clips. Great questions by the way. Regards Andreas
that is A engine !
Yes, it is a beautiful engine thanks to the engineers! I‘ve just had the opportunity to build it from ground up with newly refurbished components😊👍🏼 Regards Andreas
EXCELLENT VIDDY...
I‘m glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your feedback as well😊👍🏼 Regards Andreas
Could you show how to install the fuel injectors? I question the seals on the bottom of the spray nozel. I have a top hat looking seal idk if goes on injector or not
Hi there, Unfortunately I do not have a Yanmar engine that I'm currently working on. The injector nozzle features a heat shield which is made of plastic and an aluminum crush washer. The plastic heat shield protects the injector nozzle and it's slid on first, then the crush washer. Once the injector clamp bolts are torqued, the washer should spread and hold the heat shield in place. You should install the heat shield as it protects the injector. I hope this helps, Regards Andreas
Ese motor es una obra de arte por los arquitectos de mi marca preferida bmw en los alpes va varia...
Perfectionism is a mental illness
I'm glad this engine isn't perfect! Haha
Damn music is annoying
Nice
I had no issue getting my exhaust valve adjusted but when slowly cycling through for the intake, there isnt a position where the intake valve loosens up like the exhaust valve in order to get a feeler guage in there. What should I do?
I've never seen a timing chain with a master link. That's a new one for me! Cheers!🍻
Please note: Some heavily used engines can't be rebuilt no matter how hard you try. Waste of time.
Is this Made in China ?? Bravo China Bravo
BMW don't make engines, they create mechanical art!
I fully agree with you on that! Especially with their older engines
Not sure if you know- but Do the lines on the 455 auto bleed? Thx!
I assume they do, but I'm not 100% sure!
Proper cam chain none of your shit here
This is a proper duplex timing chain and totally overkill for this engine!
@@WorkshopRebuild no it’s a great thing .you look at bmw car engines now they have nasty simplex ones that snap like carrots.i had one of these air cooled BMW bikes when it got stolen it had 134.000 miles on it never let me down
why would you put the sparkplugs in before adjusting the points?
Because the points have been adjusted for the startup. Not every detail was shown in this video...
I just bought a BMW r1250r. I have been fascinated with the engine design and history, as a aircraft Engineer/Technician ive worked on many light air-cooled engines and can say your attention to detail, torque, and assembly meets or exceeds a certified aircraft engine overhaul facility, im quite impressed. Well done sir.
Your new bike is strikingly nice and I hope your find yourself taking it out on great road trips! I really value your feedback and appreciate your kind words. My fascination with engines and mechanical systems has been a lifelong passion, which is why I enjoy sharing these types of videos. I gained my foundational knowledge during my apprenticeship in Switzerland, where I honed various skills, including the meticulous assembly of industrial machinery to high standards. I dream of working on aircraft engines one day, as my interest in aircraft, particularly radials and vintage Continentals, runs deep. Perhaps someday I'll have the chance to participate in an engine rebuild or similar project. Thank you again. Regards Andreas
An acetone and ATF mixture works quite nicely to free up seized parts.
Thank you for your valuable advice! I will keep this in mind for future projects. Regards Andreas

Minuto 8,01 hay algo que gira fuera de rango. El cono oscila.
The camera was shaking on the table as I made this video, and in the editing software „video-stabilizing“ was used. This then made the background stable, but made the crankshaft and camshaft rotate unevenly. I‘m not sure how it was done in the video, but that was the only way I could used this clip. The crankshaft am camshaft were both running true and I am sure of this, thanks to a dial indicator. Thank you for your concerns🍻
Beautiful engine, nice clean environment and top job by the technician assembling it. Awesome video and teaching lesson.
Thank you for your comment and kind words! I had great fun assembling this engine and I'm happy to have shared it with you. I have a 1989 r100 planning on teardown myself, although it runs great one of the best engine's IMO .
That's a very cool project with some nice upgrades, compared to the /5 motorcycles. I will have a project similar to your in the near future...it's just waiting in the background at the moment. More details coming soon! Wishing you great success on your project. Regards Andreas
Absolutely beautiful work of art
Thank you, Sir! Regards Andreas
did he just put wrong gasket for cylinder head ?
No, this is the correct gasket.
That was very satisfying to watch. There's something about a torque wrench that just clicks with me.
I'm glad you were able to enjoy this video and thank you for your feedback! It sure is satisfying when you reach the correct bolt torque and it clicks to verify you've achieved your setting. I guess shop echo enhances the feeling as well haha. Regards Andreas
